The importance of effective patient education has been increasingly realized as a potent vehicle to improve the overall quality and safety of patient care. Today’s patient requires accurate, comprehensive, and reliable health-related information before undertaking any major procedure in a healthcare setting. Barriers in learning can considerably impact a patient’s ability to understand disease processes and treatment options.
